Director Statement

Karouma is inspired by my life experience, where I have always dreamt of being an animator and was always faced by difficulties whether from the society who did not see the value of working in media and arts or financial reasons that  delayed my dream, which I was able to reach after years and years of hard work. And now I am proud to be a professional animator who is not able to realize his dream but also, helping other realize theirs when it comes to art and media.
Karouma is similar to my story with a different perspective, “Karouma” my 5-year-old boy protagonist is a kid who physically is different from his society where he neither has arms or hands. But rather, KArouma was born with wings. Something that the society did not accept, but later learned that this difference is what this kid better than any other with normal peripherals.
Karouma’s goal throughout the film, is always to belong to the “normal” world, to meet the neighbors, play in the streets and go to school. But by the end of it, he realizes that his destiny is to fly and break free from all that is labeled normal.
